Improve Eyesight at Home With Yoga

You can practice the following yoga asanas to improve your eyesight. The purpose of these asanas is to increase the blood flow toward the face and the muscles of the eyes. This leads to helps enliven the nerve endings of the eyes and rejuvenates the skin as well nourishes eye muscles.

Palming the eyes

Rub the palms of your hands together vigorously until they are warm. Now place them gently over your eyelids, cover them in your palms and breathe normally for about a minute. Block off any light entering through your hands. Let the heat of your palms go over your eyes.

You will feel that the eye muscles are getting relaxed. Continue until the heat of the hands has completely cooled down. Repeat 2 to 3 times.

This not only gives relief to the eyes but also helps in the formation of tears. Your best eye doctor will advise you to take long breaths and keep your neck comfortable with the help of a support during this procedure. During this process, keep in mind that your elbow is getting some kind of support. Repeat several times a day for best results.

Blinking the eyes

Blinking is a regular activity, but there is no evidence that it improves eyesight. Because of the way our lifestyle has become, blinking intentionally can be beneficial for your eyes.

  • To do this exercise, first sit down and keep your eyes open.
  • Now blink your eyes fast at least ten times.
  • After this, keep your eyes closed for 20 seconds and give them rest.
  • Repeat this process five times.

Rotate the eyes

Rotating or rotating the eyes relaxes the muscles of the eyes and maintains moisture. Along with this, it also provides relief from pain in the cornea and retina. You can do this for a while in the morning.

For this, you sit straight on the bed.

  • Try to keep yourself comfortable by keeping the spine straight.
  • Keep your hands in your lap.
  • Roll your eyes clockwise and anti-clockwise for 5-10 minutes on each side.
  • During this try to keep your head steady.


Light a lamp or flame in front of you. Keep it at eye level. Keep this flame from yourself at a distance equal to your height. For example, if you are 5 feet, then sit at a distance of 5 feet. You can choose any comfortable posture to sit in. Now start looking towards the flame and focus all your attention on it. Note how the tips of the flame are moving. During this try not to blink too much.

Bharmari Pranayama

You can also give rest to your eyes with the help of pranayama. Bharmari Pranayama is very beneficial for the eyes. It also helps in reducing the tension of the brain as sometimes headaches can also cause pain in your eyes. That’s why you should do Bharmari Pranayama.

For this, you have to sit in a cross-legged position.

Close your eyes and ears by pressing lightly on them with your thumbs.

Place your index finger at the base of your nostrils between your eyebrows, ring finger, and little finger.

Try to focus your attention on the center of your eyebrows.

After that take a deep breath through the nose. Hold the breath for 2-3 seconds and then exhale slowly through the nose while humming. Keep in mind that during this your mouth should be closed.

Repeat this at least 5 times.


Usually, eye exercises or meditations do not improve vision, or, at least, make very minor changes. Too few to count. However, they can help with binocular vision, errors such as convergence insufficiency and certain other eye diseases of ocular motility. However, they all require a specific program adapted to the needs of that specific patient, and no one program will suit everyone.
